The category Best Americana Album was created in 2010 to reward albums that feature American roots music.
It’s similar to the award for Best Contemporary Folk Album, but the Recording Academy guidelines state that the Folk award is for acoustic music, while the Americana award is for albums with electric instruments (though acoustic instruments can also be present.)
