Wiz Khalifa Performs ‘Work Hard Play Hard’ at MTV Movie Awards

mtv movie award logoString bean Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa delivered a performance of his new single “Work Hard Play Hard” tonight at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. Wiz had promised in interviews that his Movie Awards appearance would be “theatrical,” and he backed up that claim.

Khalifa was supported by a live drummer and a DJ on the turntable. His microphone stand was draped with pieces of fabric, a la Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. He wore a tshirt with the sleeves cut out and skinny sagging jeans with holes cut in them.

Amber Rose watched and cheered on from the audience, and so did Vanilla Ice (for real!) A large group of lucky fans took the stage behind Khalifa, dancing around as Khalifa sang the song’s catchy hook. Near the end of the performance, large streamers shot rained across the stage. Look out, it’s a toilet paper battle!

“Work Hard Play Hard” has already shot to #17 on the Billboard Hot 100. With production from Benny Blanco and Stargate, the song was practically destined to become a hit.

Before the show, Wiz discussed his MTV Movie Awards performance with Sway of MTV. Take a look at that interview below.
