The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is fascinating to watch. Sometimes, the Hall’s selections make perfect sense, but at the same time, they often seem to ignore or overlook numerous worthy artists.
Mariah Carey, Weezer, Outkast, the White Stripes, and the Smiths are among the many acts who deserve serious consideration but haven’t yet been inducted.
Why haven’t your favorite bands been inducted yet into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Which bands will be next to earn induction? Let’s make some predictions.

Possible Upcoming Induction Classes
It’s very difficult to predict Rock and Roll Hall of Fame classes, because their selections often seem so random.
Why would they induct Mary J. Blige before Diana Ross? Or Rage Against the Machine before Ozzy Osbourne? Or Pat Benatar before Cher? They don’t seem to follow any logical order.
So these are really just educated guesses. Here are some possible upcoming classes for the Hall of Fame, based on who’s eligible.

Quick analysis of future predictions:
For 2027, Beyonce feels like a no-brainer as a first-year-eligible inductee. She’s a bigger than life star. The only question is whether the Hall will convince her to show up to the ceremony. If Beyonce wants it, they’d probably also be willing to put in Destiny’s Child at the same time in a side category. Both getting in at the same time would be cool. Perhaps the appeal of being the first artist ever to get inducted twice in the same night would be enough to convince Beyonce to attend.
The Hall seems to want to induct at least one hip hop artist every year now. So who’s next? I think Snoop Dogg should be next in line, followed by De La Soul in 2028 (possibly through a side category, since they may not get in through the ballot), and Lauryn Hill in 2029. Don’t be surprised if Dr. Dre jumps the line and gets the call before Snoop, though.
INXS didn’t make it in 2026, but they should get in soon. Bryan Adams seems like a no-brainer within the next couple of years. For some reason, the Hall seems to love the Black Crowes, so they’ll get in at some point.
As for classic rock, Styx and Jethro Tull seem to be likely choices as long-overlooked snubs. The B-52s and Motley Crue (do they count as classic rock?) are both way overdue for a nomination as well.
Tracy Chapman seems like an obvious future nominee in the singer-songwriter lane. She’s arguably more qualified than Sinead O’Connor, who’s already been nominated. Selena is a likely choice as a groundbreaking Latin pop star from the ’90s.
In 2028, Amy Winehouse will be eligible for the first time. I’m fascinated to see whether the Hall embraces her. She feels like a Rock Hall kind of artist, given her immense critical acclaim and commercial appeal that transcended genre. I think if she’s on a ballot, she’ll have a great chance of getting in. But will they select her in her first year of eligibility?
What about Coldplay? Joe from Who Cares About the Rock Hall? speculates that the reason Coldplay haven’t been inducted yet is because they want to choose when they get inducted to coincide with their next album or tour. If that’s the case, perhaps 2028 makes sense so they can be the main headliner (as opposed to 2027, when Beyonce will be the biggest name.)
What about Mariah Carey? After her third failed nomination, it’s clear Hall voters just don’t like her. It’s not about her credentials — it’s personal. Over time, some of those opinions may soften. She will surely get inducted. But I don’t see it happening anytime soon. She keeps losing out to other divas (Mary J. Blige, Sade.) And there are a number of divas coming up who figure to get inducted in the next few years (Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse.) So that doesn’t seem to leave a lane for Mariah until the 2030s.
I really think TLC will get nominated in the next three years. I don’t currently have them listed as a likely inductee, due to the tough competition, but they have a good shot as well.

Bottom line: If the Pumpkins getting Hall induction is what it would take to see the original lineup perform together again, we’re rooting hard for it.

Odds of getting inducted eventually: 80%
Bottom line: The most criminally-overlooked Hall candidate, Weird Al is going to earn induction someday. But it won’t happen until the 2030s or 2040s, because right now voters still aren’t taking him seriously.

Bottom line: New Edition scored a number of R&B hits in the ’80s and ’90s, and served as the template for modern boy bands that followed.

I believe Jr. Walker and the All Stars, Joe Simon, Johnnie Taylor, KoKo Taylor, Tyrone Davis, Little Milton, Denise LaSalle, Sonny Boy Williamson, Rufus Thomas, Carla Thomas has been overlooked way too long to get into the rock and roll hall of fame.
Why bands like Tull,ELP and Kansas aren’t in baffles me, I think Boston and Styx belong too,if Notorious Big is in and the Go Go’s there is something wrong.
Phish is a rock and roll enigma. Deserving for a long time. Although no commercial success, their influence is everywhere (go to a festival or ANY live show) and an entire genre of music inspired. Early 80’s start, and carved a path unlike anyone else, even the Dead. Premium musicianship, groundbreaking innovation (show sharing, internet use, livestreams, concert lighting, festival production, etc.). There’s no doubt they’ll get in, but what are we waiting for here?
Styx, Boston, Kansas, The Guess Who, and Triumph all deserve to be in the Hall. These bands all had/have outstanding record sales and were/are great live performers. All of these bands are fiercely independant and haven’t taken advice well from the “connected” crowd. Styx and Triumph were not MTV favs and Boston, Kansas, and The Guess Who were not even on their radar. So the same folks that have voted-in flash-in-the-pan acts with “memorable” videos, seem to be unaware that these other bands exist. Additionally, Tom Scholtz from Boston won a lawsuit against Sony. I doubt his band will ever make it in because of that one single fact. Truth be told, no other band has risen to stardom so fast (in a space of a few months). Boston started out playing high school auditoriums and in a few months were selling out massive stadiums. The band’s first two albums have sold more than many inductees entire catalogs. It’s sad when real rock and roll takes a back seat to politics. But, hey, congratulations to our Country inductees.

Rest in peace Connie Francis who passed away at the age of 87. Hoping that members of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame will induct her for the 2026 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. It is sad that she never got to experience being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame while she was still alive for so many years.
Suggest you recalculate Bryan Adams chances. But before you do, consider that Adams and R&RHoF CEO and iHeart CEO John Sykes are good friends. Please, go ahead and verify. Search for “Bryan Adams” and “John Sykes”. If your results are like mine, the first word out of your mouth is “charities!” Yeah, actual qualifications should be what the nominators look at, but us Rock Hall watchers have learned that relationships count a lot. Mind you, it’s not always a guarantee. Take Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics – everybody’s buddy, but it took two noms. Or Lenny Kravitz – snubbed the first time, he’ll get in the second. Still, that’s the difference between the nominators and the voters, right?
We’ve just increased Bryan’s odds after seeing that he’ll be appearing at the 2025 ceremony. That will put him back in voters’ minds, so he could make the ballot as early as next year. And he has a good shot at getting selected for the reasons you mention.

Of those, Barry White, D’Angelo, and Usher have the best odds and will probably be inducted within the next 5-10 years. The others would be question marks, but I hope some would be considered for side categories, like Johnny Mathis and George Benson.

Fad, Lil’ Kim, Da Brat, Foxy Brown, Eve etc. being inducted in the musical influence category?
It’s hard to predict, but I suspect the Hall feels like it has gotten all the most important early female rappers inducted now, so they can look elsewhere for early influence and musical excellence inductees. They’ll probably keep looking at a mix of old timers (60s/70s) and more recent artists, and they’ll probably include a lot more songwriters and producers going forward. I could see Bacharach getting in for sure. Francis and Sinatra are possible. I still think the Monkees would make sense to get in through the ballot eventually.
